TRUSTEE PROFILES


Citizens Advice Waverley is governed by elected Trustees who are people that live or work within Waverley District and who bring with them a wealth of professional, commercial and practical experience and knowledge.

Our Trustees are;

Norma Corkish - Chair
Norma has worked in the charitable sector for over 30 years, some as a fundraiser and about 18 years as a Chief Executive of a medium-sized parent-led organisation. She now undertakes consultancy and training for charities and non-government organisations via the Charities Aid Foundation and Voluntary Services Overseas. Norma is also a trustee of the New Ashgate Gallery, Farnham and hopes that her experience in organisational development, and fundraising in particular, will be of value to Citizens Advice Waverley, which she regards as an organisation of growing importance to the community.

David Travers Smith - Hon. Treasurer
Specific responsibility for Fundraising and Income Generation

A Chartered Accountant with over thirty five years experience working with substantial international professional and industrial companies in a wide range of financial roles. Although retired, David is a member of the advisory team within the Institute's of Directors' Information and Advisory Service, and is also a Governor and Treasurer for Frensham Heights School. He has taken on the role as a Trustee and Treasurer for Citizens Advice Waverley because he has skills to assist in the development of the Bureaux.

Stuart Spencer - Trustee for Cranleigh Bureau
Specific responsibility for Advice Services

Stuart has served on the Management Committee and the Trustee Board of Cranleigh (Haslemere) since 1980 and was its Chairman for 3 years during the mid 1990's. He works as a private client solicitor in Cranleigh and has been a partner in Hart Brown since 1978, having qualified as a solicitor in 1975 after completing of his LLB degree in 1972. Although not actively involved with any other charity, he is an honorary solicitor to the Cranleigh and South Eastern Agricultural Society.


Jo Reynolds - Trustee for Cranleigh Bureau
Specific responsibility for Human Resources and Social Policy.

As a Chartered Fellow of the Institute of Personnel and Development and a former Non-Executive Board Director, Jo has extensive experience in Human Resources, initially with a global pharmaceutical company, and for the last 12 years, running her own HR consultancy. Having worked across a wide variety of business sectors, she now focuses most of her professional time with the Surrey Police. She has been involved for some years with the Prince's Trust, as the volunteer responsible for advanced mentoring skills training for business mentors, whilst also working directly with some the disadvantaged young people on one of the Trust's programmes. She lives in Cranleigh and takes an active role in a number of the village sports and social activities.

Christopher Tibbott - Trustee for Farnham Bureau
Christopher has been a GP at the Downing Street Group Practice, Farnham for almost 30 years, and is a past chairman of the local branch of the BMA. He has trained young doctors to become GPs for over 25 years. Christopher has been very involved with implementing all of the reforms and developments in GP care and has worked with the Health Authority on many projects. He hopes to bring his experience of both helping patients with their many problems and working with the Health Care Trusts, to enable Citizens Advice Waverley to develop its range of services to its clients.

John Vardon - Trustee for Farnham Bureau
A Fellow of Institute of Mechanical Engineers & Charter Engineers, John has 36 years project engineering, project management and general management experience. For the last 7 years he has been Chief Executive of an organisation managing a refined liquid hydrocarbon pipeline network, personally responsible to the non-executive Board for the successful implementation of all aspects of the operation of the business, financial, technical, commercial and regulatory.

Frank Bennett - Trustee for Godalming Bureau
Specific responsibility for IT

Frank recently joined as Trustee and is applying his 30 years experience in IT to the present day and future needs of IT for the bureaux. For the last 10 years his focus has been the Internet and how that serves the interests of business and consumer and was a pioneer for Internet Banking in the UK. He now writes and advises businesses about Internet related technology.

Andrew M Higgs - Trustee for Haslemere Bureau
Specific responsibility for Advice Services

A practising solicitor and consultant in "legal risk management" and dispute resolution, Andrew has nearly 30 years international insurance experience (litigation, arbitration and mediation) in the City of London, including providing Honorary Legal Advisers to the Royal Courts of Justice CAB, dealing with occasional liability claims on behalf of the CAB's insurers nationally and acquaintance with Bates, Wells and Braithwaite who advise the CAB. Andrew has had a part-time legal consultancy in Guildford with a company providing After The Event Legal Expenses Insurance for the last nine months, providing free "legal risk assessments" and free legal advice, not only to lawyers but also to their clients regardless of their status. He participated for several months in the CAB Advisor training programme for the Haslemere bureau.
