  • Gender
  • Race
  • Disability
  • Colour
  • Nationality
  • Ethnic or National Origin
  • Religion or Belief
  • Sexual Orientation.

Legislation makes it unlawful for an employer to discriminate against an employee, or to treat one employee less favourably, on any of the grounds listed above.

Discrimination can be in relation to job selection, terms and conditions of employment, training, promotion, work practices and dismissal. The Disability Discrimination Act also places obligations upon the employer, particularly with regard to work practices.

Generally employees, workers, self employed, temporary and contract workers are all covered by the legislation.
